Your Community
Meet the people and organisations working with residents to make Furzedown safer and more connected.
Your local policing team
Know who works across Furzedown and the wider local area.
The team can be contacted about local policing issues. Do not use the ward email to report a crime or emergency.
For local policing issues — not crime reporting.
Your community
Representatives, partnership and neighbourhood action.
Community safety works best when residents, elected representatives, police, the Council and local organisations stay connected.

Trevor Hutton
Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator for 15 years • SNP Member • White Ribbon Ambassador
Trevor supports strong communication between residents and encourages neighbours to look out for one another. As one of a dozen Neighbourhood Watch Scheme Coordinators in Furzedown, Trevor helps keep local residents informed, encourages participation in the scheme, supports vulnerable or isolated neighbours, promotes crime-prevention and personal safety, and helps signpost community-safety concerns to the appropriate organisations. He also works with local police, other coordinators and partner agencies to share information, identify local issues and support practical responses to community concerns.
Alongside this, Trevor’s work as a White Ribbon Ambassador focuses on challenging misogynistic attitudes, promoting respect for women and girls, and encouraging positive conversations around safety, equality and healthy behaviour.

Safe Space campaign
Find a local business offering a place of safety
MP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan launched the Safe Space campaign for anyone who feels they may need a place of safety in our community.
If you are walking past a local business displaying a Safe Space logo, you can go inside and ask for help. Participating businesses can offer you a place of safety and, where needed, somewhere to charge your phone, call a taxi or contact the police.
Participating shops, restaurants, pubs and other businesses display it in their window.
You can ask for a safe place while you decide what you need to do next.
This may include charging your phone, calling a taxi or contacting the police.
